Richard is an exciting young British violinist, passionate about exploring and creating music across a wide range of musical contexts. Specializing in jazz, blues and improvisation, he far removes the violin from the orchestral setting, delving into rock, folk and jazz to find his sounds.
Beginning his musical studies classically at a young age, it wasn't long before Richard began playing by ear and improvising, collaborating with many musicians across a wide range of musical genres. Within his musical education, he achieves highly both instrumentally and academically, recently gaining a First Class Honors degree and winning the Music Performance Prize for his final recital. Richard is currently undertaking a Masters in Jazz Violin Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In addition to his education, Richard has had a wealth of experience within the music industry. He has performed throughout the UK add within Europe, playing violin with nationally acclaimed band 'Kill It Kid' who are signed to One Little Indian Records. Following recording a successful Album and singles with the band in Seattle, Richard toured extensively and made numerous live radio appearances including BBC Radio 2 with Dermot O'Leary, Radio 1 Maida Vale session, as well as featuring within magazines such as NME, Burberry and Q.
Further to his experience as a violinist, Richard has also taken part in a wealth of other musical projects, including being featured as a pianist on BBC1 live television as part of a 'Question Time' program, and also touring with the Welsh National Opera as a vocalist.
