Higher Education

Sound and Music aims to support composers at each stage in their development. We work closely with higher education institutions to supplement the support they offer their students. From offering opportunities for students making their first leap into careers in composition to providing resources on how to become an artist, there is a variety of ways Sound and Music can help. Sign up to the higher education mailing list to keep up to date with that latest news.

Higher Education Programme
The programme is aimed at showcasing and developing talented composers studying in Higher Education institutions in England. Through a series of workshops and mentoring the composers will have the opportunity to work with professional composers and musicians. have their work recorded and by NMC, showcased at hcmf// 2014.

Interning with Sound and Music can form part of your higher education course. Each year Sound and Music looks to recruit roughly five interns on an expenses-only basis, whether as part of an educational requirement or for those looking to gain experience from within an arts organisation. We can offer a range of placements dependent on the current project activity. All internships are supervised and are dependent on the learning needs of the individual and will vary from person to person.

We are currently not accepting interns until further notice.

If you are in your final year of learning then there are a host of resources for emerging composers including our Opportunities page, The Sampler for the latest new music events and the Composer's Toolkit for how-tos and resources on how to begin a career in composition.
