Dublin Sound Lab New Music Festival ‘09
Dublin Sound Lab announces its forthcoming New Music Festival ’09 taking place November 2009. This year’s festival will include a public discussion and two concerts: the first with Garth Knox (viola), the leading international exponent of contemporary viola music; the second concert features new music for harpsichord and electronics from around the world, performed by Michael Quinn (harpsichord) and Fergal Dowling (computer/electronics).

26 November, 2009 – Garth Knox, public talk on contemporary viola repertoire
Garth Knox will give a pre-concert talk on contemporary viola repertoire in the library of the Contemporary Music Centre.
5.30–6.30pm. CMC Library, Fishamble Street, Dublin 2.

26 November, 2009 – Garth Knox, Music for Viola and Electronics
Our 2009 Festival begins with a concert of contemporary French and Italian music for viola and electronics performed by renowned international violist Garth Knox.

• Salvatore Sciarrino 3 notturni brillanti for solo viola
• Kaija Saariaho Vent Nocturne for viola and electronics
• Garth Knox Viola Spaces for solo viola

28 November, 2009 – Music for Harpsichord and Electronics
An innovative programme of contemporary works for harpsichord and electronics, this concert will include works by Nick Collins and Julio d’Escrivan, performed by Dublin Sound Lab’s Michael Quinn (harpsichord) and Fergal Dowling (computer).

Dublin Sound Lab is a contemporary music performance group specialising in new electroacoustic music and computer-mediated performance. Dublin Sound Lab was formed in 2008 by organist Michael Quinn and composer Fergal Dowling to promote and perform new and established works by Irish and international composers.
