Information

Shoël is Marketing and Audience Development Manager at Sound and Music. His role includes leading the organisation's audience development work, enabling and encouraging more people to engage with new music and sound.

From 2003 to 2009 he worked for spnm (Society for the Promotion of New Music), first as Promotion and Publications Manager and later as Joint Executive Director. He pioneered spnm’s marketing and audience development work, edited new notes magazine and initiated The Sound Source, one of the UK’s most innovative new music nights. As Joint Executive Director he led spnm through the Sound and Music merger.

Outside work Shoël is a board member of Brighton’s new music festival, Soundwaves, and a committee member of the One Day Cafe, campaigning for the first community cafe and multi-arts venue in his local area, Plumstead. He is also a writer and regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement

He studied Music at Oxford University, followed by an MA in Contemporary History and Politics at Birkbeck, University of London.
