CONDUCTOR AND COMPOSER
Born in London, Jamie began her musical life playing violin and conducting keyboard concerti from the piano whilst school. Jamie was tutored by Jorma Panula (Finland, Germany and Holland) and has benefited from the continual guidance of Oliver Knussen.
Jamie was founder of the Birmingham Sounds Free Project (2009) and won the Britten- Pears Orchestra Conductor Bursary in 2010. Highlights of 2011 included a new piece for the Park Lane Young Artists Concert Series (Purcell Room), re-invitation to Aldeburgh and conducting debut on BBC Radio 3 live in concert with pianist Pierre- Laurent Aimard and cellist Jean- Guihen Queyras from the 62nd Aldeburgh Music Festival.
Jamie is a composer at the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden) ROH2 where her work will be showcased in Spring 2012 and is also a composer on the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme where she will conduct the premiere of her new opera SATYRS written with the writer Toby Litt.
Jamie has been appointed musical director of Iris Theatre (Covent Garden) newly commissioned opera production 2012.
