Andrew Hopper was born in 1990 in the charming commuter belt county of Bedfordshire. He first got involved in music aged 7, and hasn't been much good at anything else since.
Andrew is currently studying composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire (in his 4th and final undergraduate year), under teachers including Richard Leigh Harris, Joe Cutler, Richard Causton and Edwin Roxburgh (with whom he studies conducting). He is also an active clarinetist, 'cellist, and choral singer.
His major compositional influences include the likes of Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Britten, Sibelius, Messiaen and Górecki, plus the more "intelligent" rock, pop and indie bands, such as Radiohead, Guillemots, Pink Floyd and The Smiths.
