George Christofi

George Christofi (b.1983) is an spnm shortlisted composer based in England. He completed his Undergraduate studies at the University of Hull with a First Class Honours winning a prize for his high results and academic excellence.  Having finished his Masters in Composition with Distinction at the University of York, he is currently continuing his studies there being a PhD candidate. Since 2006,  and for three times successively, he has been selected as an active participant in the ACANTHES Composition Workshop in Metz and had the chance to attend classes by Aperghis, Hosokawa, Neuwirth, Pesson, Boesmans, Sciarrino, Reverdy and Nieder. In 2007, he was a fellow at the 18th Composition Course - Voix Nouvelles of the Fondation Royaumont in Paris having lessons with Brian Ferneyhough, Daniel D'Adamo and Thierry Blondeau. Also, in 2008, George completed an IRCAM ACADEMY course in Glasgow.George’s music has been performed in Belgium, England, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Spain and broadcast by the BBC Radio 3. Soloists and ensembles that played his works include: the Bass Clarinet player Harry Sparnaay, Cellist Rohan de Saram, GEMINI Ensemble, Jeunes Voix du Rhin, Ensemble 360, Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, Ensemble 10/10, Orchestre National de Lorraine, The Endymion, The Kreutzer Quartet, Ensemble Cairn among others.
