2010 –

Nicholas Peters was born in Exeter in 1984, and brought up in Taunton, Somerset. He studied composition with Nick Atkinson and music analysis with Roger Heaton at Bath Spa University College, graduating in July 2005 with a First Class Honours Degree in Music. He then went on to study with Christopher Fox at Huddersfield University, achieving a pass with distinction on the Masters in Composition course in September 2006. He is currently studying for a PhD in composition at Brunel University with Christopher Fox, exploring the organic development of musical material and how it affects large scale form. His Doctoral studies have been partially funded with the generous support of the Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation, Taunton.  In March 2005 the John Armitage Memorial Trust selected his choral piece, Lux Aeterna, to be included in their programme of concerts at Southwark Cathedral in London and at St Cuthbert’s Church, Edinburgh. It was performed by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge and conducted by Stephen Layton. In November 2005 the John Armitage Memorial Trust programmed it once again for a concert at St Bride’s Church, London with the same choir, but this time conducted by Nicholas Cleobury. Other works have recently been performed by Lorna Osbon, Philip Thomas and duo DorT in Bath, Huddersfield and London respectively.
