Charlotte Bray

2010 –

Charlotte (b.1982) looks forward to studying at Tanglewood Music Centre this summer and to fulfilling a commission from Britten Sinfonia, December 2008. Upcoming concerts include the premiere of her work Awakening at the Aldeburgh Festival, and a new work written in collaboration with graduates from Ballet Rambert. The Sirocco Saxophone Quartet will perform Throw Back in the Park Lane Group’s Young Artist Series, January 2009. Recent successes include a performance by Jianing Kong of Off The Rails at  Cadogan Hall, Cityscape, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and a commission from Gemini, which has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Charlotte was specially chosen for a workshop with BCMG led by Boulez in May 2008. Charlotte recently completed a Masters in composition as a scholar at the Royal College of Music, under Mark-Anthony Turnage, and was also funded by The Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, and The Arts and Humanities Research Council. Graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2006 with First Class Honours, under Joe Cutler, she has won numerous awards includingThe Vaughan Williams Scholarship, Birmingham Conservatoire's Composers' Prize and the Composers' Orchestral Prize, and Birmingham Chamber Music Society Prize.
