Will Dutta Headshot

Today we're delighted to be able to annouce that Will Dutta will be joining Hannah Bujic as our second Co-Head of Artist Development. Will said:

‘This is a very exciting time to be joining Sound and Music as Co-Head of Artist Development. The challenges and opportunities for composers working today are many but I am hugely impressed and energised by the organisation’s vision and commitment to supporting and empowering the diverse range of talent across the sonic curve. I look forward to joining such a dedicated team.’

Will is a curating composer whose creative practice incorporates performance, composition and research. His work is presented in a range of art spaces and institutional contexts, in the UK and internationally.

He has released two critically acclaimed studio albums, Parergon (Just Music, 2012) and bloom (SWD, 2017), centred on his hyper-colourful piano led collaborations with British electronic duo Plaid. The supporting AV-shows have taken him across the UK, Europe and South America.

As founder of a small arts organisation, he has recently initiated and creatively produced new works by Max de Wardener, Cevanne and Tim Exile. Other notable commissions include Gabriel Prokofiev’s Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra. Since its premiere at Scala in 2007, this piece has received over sixty performances worldwide, including BBC Proms in 2011 and again in 2016 as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project, and an award-winning album featuring DJ Yoda and Heritage Orchestra (Nonclassical, 2009).

Will holds a PhD in Creative Practice (Music) from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where he is also a visiting lecturer.

Chief Executive Susanna Eastburn MBE said:

'I’m thrilled to welcome Will to the senior team at Sound and Music, joining Hannah Bujic in heading up our artist development programme. As a composer, producer and performer himself, Will brings valuable perspectives into the leadership of the organisation and I am really looking forward to working with him and Hannah to continue exploring how we can offer the most inclusive, national, artistically exciting talent development programme for composers in the UK.'
