Apartment House,

Apartment House was created by the cellist Anton Lukoszevieze in 1995. Since then it has established itself as the leading British exponent of avant-garde and experimental music from around the world. Apartment House performances embrace radical elements of avant-garde and experimental music creating a wide range of acoustical and theatrical situations within which volatile and stimulating performances occur. 

Stephen Gutman, Piano

Stephen Gutman has performed in the RFH, the Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, Ueno Bunka Keikan in Tokyo, and throughout Europe.He has created a series of projects which have placed large-scale commissioning in the context of significant but possibly neglected repertoire. Julian Anderson, John Casken, Michael Finnissy, Simon Holt, Colin Matthews, Anthony Payne and John Woolrich are some of the many composers who have written for him.

Mary Dullea, Piano

As soloist and chamber musician, Irish pianist Mary Dullea has built an impressive reputation as a performer and commissioner of new music. She has performed throughout Ireland, England, Europe, USA, China and South Africa at festivals including Brighton, Huddersfield, Aldeburgh, Reggello (Italy), FuseLeeds, Petworth and National Arts Festival (South Africa).

Mary broadcasts regularly for BBC Radio 3 and RTE Lyric FM and is on the teaching staff of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is currently completing a PhD in Performance at the University of Ulster, focusing on the u (…more)


Each time that [rout] creates a project the group seems to take on a different shape. This involves radical changes in line-up and style of presentation. [rout] is an ensemble specialising in interdisciplinary work and actively seeks out venues and audiences not usually associated with new music. Recent projects include performances at HCMF, Cutting Edge Concert Series 2000, and Brighton Festival. [rout] have been featured on Hear and Now, BBC Radio 3, with performances of work by Joe Cutler, Sam Hayden, Paul Newland, Ian Vine and Paul Whitty.
