Be quiet. Be still. Listen…

Let us take you from Beethoven to Bjork, Chicago to Sudan, cityscapes to sandy shores. If you’re teaching primary school kids in the classroom or at home, then why not take a minute to venture into the world of sound?

From today, we’re making Minute of Listening free throughout COVID-19, for all parents and educators working to inspire young children at school or from home.

Minute of Listening, Sound and Music’s curated educational resources for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils, takes children on a sonic journey through a wealth of listening experiences. Our content has been devised to support the teaching of the National Curriculum and promote reflective listening, creative thinking, and the development of cognitive skills.

Our curated collections feature music and sound from across the globe, with contributions from world-renowned composers, artists and musicians, seminal record labels and cultural organisations.

We want to support you and enable as many children as possible to be able to experience a minute of creative listening every day. That’s why we’re making five of our sound collections, as well as all lesson and activity plans, free of charge for use by any teachers and parents at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will also be doing a weekly feature to help you explore different minutes; through contributors, curriculum areas and moods.

So get ready to learn through listening – to get started simply:
