Project Pilot
From February to early April 2011 an initial test of the Minute of Listening project was carried out at ten primary schools in Norfolk. This small pilot, delivered in partnership with Norfolk & Norwich Festival, was aimed at assessing the demand for a listening-based project in primary schools, and testing what kind of technology might be used to deliver it in classrooms. Over 1500 children between the ages of 3 and 11 took part, and there was a very positive response from both teachers and pupils alike.
You can hear about the pilot and what the schools involved thought of Minute of Listening in the short film on the main page.
More information on the initial pilot, including a summary of feedback from teachers and pupils involved, can also be found in the Evaluation Report below:
Next Steps
SAM is currently in the process of developing Minute of Listening towards a full R&D pilot in early 2012. For this next phase SAM will work with approximately 70 schools around the UK in the regions of Oxfordshire, Norfolk and Cornwall and the three London boroughs of Westminster, Lambeth and Enfield. This next pilot will develop existing content and learning resources for teachers and pupils and test approaches to delivering the project to schools on a wider scale.
Please note that the next pilot phase will take place in a limited number of schools in regions which have already been confirmed. If you are a school interested in taking part in future phases, please get in touch by emailing contact@minuteoflistening.org and we will keep a record of your details for when the project becomes available in more areas around the UK.
