Sound and Music is co-producing the world premiere of Richard Barrett's monumental two-hour cycle, CONSTRUCTION:

Commissioned by Liverpool Capital of Culture but never performed, Richard Barrett's epic two-hour work CONSTRUCTION is a momentous piece, based on the confrontation between ‘utopian' societies, in their envisioned perfection, and real ones with their histories of division, upheaval and destruction.
The event will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

CONSTRUCTION is produced by hcmf// and supported by Sound and Music and ELISION with the friendly support of Ernst von Siemens music foundation; also supported by British Council. CONSTRUCTION is a commission of the Liverpool City Council for the 2008 European Capital of Culture Programme. Research and creative development for CONSTRUCTION has also been assisted through the SIAL Sound Studios of the School of Architecture and Design, RMIT University, Melbourne with funds from the Australian Research Council.

Nerve Cell_o is a monumental duo for cello and a complex central nervous system of interactive live electronics.
SAM has facilitated an international collaboration between cellist Anton Lukoszevieze and composer Zbigniew Karkowski, commissioning a new concert-length piece for cello and interactive live electronics. This was developed during a studio residency at the EMS (Elektronmusikstudion) in Stockholm.The event is produced by hcmf//.
