Advanced Instrumental Composition

Music is ultimately about great sounds, and in working with different instruments, students were introduced to the fantastic sound possibilities they have in order to help you create original and thrilling music. Students received feedback on their music from David and the other musicians as well as from visitors Adam Gorb and Joe Cutler, heads of composition at the Royal Northern Conservatoire of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire. They looked at examples of innovative music from the 20th century and used them as an inspiration for composition; they picked up some great tricks and 'trade secrets' for starting and continuing a piece, and finally building it into a creation they were satisfied with. Led by David Horne.
