Piers Tattersall

2010 –

 

Born in 1985 Piers Tattersall began playing the piano at the age of 9 and started to compose in his early teens. After leaving school he went to study with Gary Carpenter at the Royal Northern College of Music where he won several prizes for composition including the Soroptimists' Prize for Composition and Conducting.

 

In 2008 Piers began a Masters course with Joseph Horovitz at the Royal College of Music generously supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. Piers' work has been performed by the Ossian Ensemble, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, The Composers' Ensemble and the Warehouse Ensemble amongst others. In 2009 Piers became a Sound and Music composer with his piece Hunting Zephyrs for 6 percussionists.

 

Piers is active as a teacher, orchestrator, composer and pianist.
