LONDON EAR festival of contemporary music, is to include an INTERNATIONAL  COMPOSERS' COMPETITION

Festival dates: 20 - 24 March 2013

Submissions are invited in two categories:  a)  Pieces for ensemble (instrumentation details on the website);  b)  Pieces for piano

Prizes will be awarded in both categories as follows:

1st Prize: £1000, Performance at the London Ear Festival and Publication by Verlag Neue Musik, Berlin

2nd Prize: £500, and Performance at the London Ear Festival

All submissions must be received by 7th January, 2013.  There is no age limit.

From the submitted works an international jury will selected two finalists in each of the two categories. The four finalists will be invited to stay in London as guests of the Festival for the night of the performance of their pieces.

The performances will be given by Uroboros Ensemble (conducted by Gwyn Pritchard), and by Ian Pace (piano).  At the end of each of the concerts which have included the performances of the finalists’ pieces the jury will decide upon and announce which of the two pieces have been awarded the first and second prizes.
