How do I add my event to these listings?
Go to the ‘Add event’ section on the main navigation menu. You will need to have signed up before adding your first event.
How do I edit my event once published?
You can edit your event after you have published it by going to your event listing whilst being logged in. You should see an 'edit' button at the top of the page. Click this and you will be taken to the event form. You can only edit events that you have added.
What is ‘contemporary music and sound’? Which types of music and sound are covered by The Sampler?
This is hard to define precisely and we find it more helpful not to. We mean non-mainstream work – work which is innovative or experimental in any genre or style. On the rare occasions that we find a listing that we feel is inappropriate, we remove it and inform the user who posted it.
Who selects the listings?
On The Sampler website, no-one selects them; they’re posted by users. You can post your own via the ‘Add event’ section. In The Sampler e-shot, each issue a guest editor creates a personal selection of highlights from events listed on the website.
Are events listed in The Sampler ones promoted by Sound and Music?
No, The Sampler is an independent service listing events posted by users across the UK (although Sound and Music’s own events are included along with everyone else’s). To find out about the projects that Sound and Music produces and promotes, visit www.soundandmusic.org.
