Embedded: BCMG

We’re partnering with the world-leading contemporary ensemble, BCMG (Birmingham Contemporary Music Group) for the fourth time, after successful residencies with composers Seán Clancy, Joanna Lee, Shiori Usui, and Arne Gieshoff from 2012 – 2015.

This residency provides one selected composer with the opportunity to immerse themselves in BCMG’s activities from September 2015 to summer/autumn 2016, observing and participating in all aspects and developing an insight into a broad range of BCMG’s work. Writing for a new work for the ensemble premiere in 2016 as well as a potential short solo piece for a young performer early on in the residency as part of BCMG’s Learning and Participation programme, the residency is truly unique.

Composer-in-Residence: Patrick Brennan

Patrick Brennan was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. He studied piano at the Royal College of Music with Julian Jacobson, and composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Julian Anderson and Hans Abrahamsen.
