Career Advice and Opportunities

For advice on your work, check the list of music societies and associations and organisations. They often provide support and advice for musicians and artists. Many websites will include pages of opportunities for jobs, festivals, calls for work and residencies.

ArtQuest is a comprehensive online resource for artists and craftspeople. It has thousands of pages to help you find information and advice for developing your work in London.

A-N Knowledge Bank

The Knowledge Bank is an online resource for artists and researchers in contemporary art practices to help find ways of making a living and promoting and developing their professional practice.  Some select articles and publications require online subscription starting at £6 for one month trail to a year.


Artsadmin is a unique producing organisation for contemporary artists working in theatre, dance, live art, visual arts and mixed media. Based at Toynbee Studios since 1995, the organisation offers a free advisory service for artists, mentoring and development programmes and a number of bursary schemes.

The Musicians' Union’s website provides advice for performing, teaching and recording and includes templates, factsheets and checklists.

New Contemporaries

New Contemporaries is a programme for recent art graduates jointly supported by Bloomberg. It gives people still at, or just out of, art school the opportunity to show their work in the context of a professional art gallery.
